This is a gem. Truly. Small. Intimate without being noisy. The food is spectacular. We had reservations for a Saturday night. We were seated right away. Our server recommended the special which was a sea trout. With couscous. We both opted for that as our entrees and I didn’t disappoint. Perfectly cook fish. We had the focaccia as a starter and the burata salad. Outstanding. The focaccia was the best I’ve had. We opted for an apple pastry with Ice cream for dessert. One of the best meals we have had in awhile. Make a reservation and go.
The bad: The food felt like it was someone just trying way too hard. Too many sauces too many flavors overshadowing main parts of dishes such as the octopus. It all just wasn’t good. But make the dishes a little simpler and they would have been so much better. The excellent: The 5 stars is mainly for the drinks. The bartender clearly takes pride in and is passionate about making these drinks. She makes her own infused liquors and man you can taste the love in them no joke. HIGHLY recommend the Hot Brown Buttered Butterscotch dessert drink. Would literally go here on a cold night/ day JUST for this drink. Service was also really great!
Absolute hidden gem in Santa Fe. The food here was incredible. We tried the meatballs, duck, beet salad and swordfish special. The focaccia was also really great. Alex was a fantastic server, gave great recommendation and was a lot of fun. I know this is most likely because it was the day before the Fourth of July, but the patio was extremely noisy because of passing cars with screaming engines. Absolutely no fault to the restaurant but just beware when making reservations.
On a 4 night ski trip in the Santa Fe area, it’s hard to find great food, scarcely a place that delivers a memorable experience. Horno checks all the boxes. From the ambience and no detail left to chance. Horno delivers a true unique experience hovering around classic french with a strong Japanese influence. Creative, memorable and the professional presence and quest for perfection stands out from the first bite to the digestive. Definitely a must when in Santa Fe.
Wonderful dinner! The miso vegetables starter was not to be missed. We had the half chicken and Korean short ribs- both were excellent. Good use of flavors and as much as I love southwestern cuisine, this broke it up so nicely. The staff were welcoming, very friendly and attentive! Not to mention it is surprising how reasonably priced it is! Highly recommend.
Great service from the moment we entered. Server was attentive, but not intrusive, food was outstanding, cocktails delicious. Started with the tuna tartare, which was fresh and lemony. Better half had the grilled hangar steak on romesco, I had the pork chop on a bed of couscous with spring vegetables and preserved lemons. Both were delicious, but would probably choose the hanger steak next time. Vibe is casual, not pretentious, but they are serious about what they serve. Just a wonderful experience.
We had an absolutely fabulous dinner here. 3 of us dining and we couldn’t fault anything. Our waitress was awesome. All our dishes were delicious.
The food at Horno Restaurant is sophisticated yet unpretentious, living up to its reputation as a James Beard Foundation Best Chef Southwest semi-finalist in 2023. The beautifully cooked pork chop has a subtle hint of lemon acidity, while the fish of the day is perfumed with coconut lemongrass. The ceviche with cucumber is refreshing, especially in the summer heat.
